Real Home Defense Starts Before the Threat Arrives
Most people think home defense means owning a firearm. It does not. Effective home defense is a system — one that begins with detection, builds through physical security, and ends with a trained, confident response. At Gideon Training Solutions, we teach that complete system to families across Dallas-Fort Worth.
Our Home Defense course is built on the USCCA curriculum and taught by instructors who have spent years working with families, churches, and community organizations on real-world safety planning. We do not teach theory. We teach practical, applicable skills that work in the actual layout of your home, with the people who live there.
We serve students across Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Irving, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, DeSoto, Duncanville, Mesquite, and the entire DFW metroplex. Private sessions are available for couples and families who want instruction tailored to their specific home and situation.

Shannon Gulley — our USCCA Home Defense Instructor and R.A.D. certified instructor — specializes in empowering families and individuals who may not have a firearms background but want to protect their homes effectively.

Who Should Take This Course
This course is designed for any adult who wants to protect their home and family — whether or not they currently own a firearm. We work with first-time gun owners who want to understand safe storage before they bring a firearm into the house. We work with experienced shooters who want to think more strategically about their home layout and response plan. And we work with couples and families who want to get on the same page about what to do if a threat ever enters their home.
We also offer this course as a private session for couples and families who want instruction tailored to their specific home, their specific concerns, and the people who live there. If you have children in the house, elderly family members, or specific physical limitations that affect your response options, a private session lets us address all of that directly.
Home defense is not a one-size-fits-all topic. That is why we take the time to speak with every student before confirming enrollment — to understand your situation and make sure this course is the right fit for where you are right now.
